Motorpoint’s footprint has expanded to 16 used car outlets with the opening of a new two-acre, 120-vehicle dealership in Maidstone.
The opening of the new site by the Mayor of Maidstone’s adviser, Fay Gooch, is the latest step in the company’s ambitious medium-term growth strategy to boost its annual revenue to £2billion.
Used car supermarket specialist Motorpoint revealed in June last year that it planned to add 12 more retail sites – in addition to a recently expanded network of 14 locations – in the purpose of achieving his goal.
The opening of Maidstone – in a former VanWise showroom on Parkwood Industrial Estate, Bircholt Road, Maidstone – comes four months after Motorpoint Manchester opened in a former LSH Auto UK Mercedes-Benz dealership, bringing its total site at 16.
Motorpoint Maidstone Managing Director Rob Jones joined by Motorpoint Managing Director Mark Carpenter for the opening.
Carpenter said: “I am delighted to be able to open our 16th store in Maidstone and bring Motorpoint’s award-winning car shopping experience to the county of Kent – this marks an important milestone in our plans to expand into the southern UK.
“At Motorpoint, we want to give our customers unparalleled choice by offering thousands of cars to suit their lifestyle and budget.
“A recent survey showed that 93% of our customers agree that we are unbeatable on price; we are fully committed to ensuring that our customers can find and buy their next vehicle the way they prefer – whether that’s at their local store like Maidstone, buying online or calling our sales team.
Motorpoint’s new Bircholt Road site was developed in just over 16 weeks, creating a store that covers 22,251 square feet with space for up to 120 near-new cars and vans on display.
Recruitment for the site started in January.
Commenting on the opening of the new business, Mayor of Maidstone, Cllr Fay Gooch said: “I was truly excited and honored to open this new ‘Motorpoint Maidstone’ store.
“Motorpoint is the UK’s largest independent retailer of nearly new cars and vans, it has stores across the country, and now they have come to Maidstone, the county town of Kent, creating thirty new jobs – c is fantastic news.”
